Privacy Policy

We built this site for worried parents. We collect as little as we can.

The short version

  • We do not require an account, and we do not sell personal information.
  • This site is for parents and other adults. It is not directed at children under 13.
  • We don’t ask you to enter details about your child. Please don’t send them to us.
  • By default, no analytics or advertising trackers run on this site. If we enable analytics, we will use it to understand which pages help, and this policy will say which service we use.

Information we may collect

Server logs. Like most websites, our hosting provider may automatically log technical data such as IP address, browser type, pages requested, and timestamps for security and reliability.

Analytics. Analytics is not currently enabled on this site.

Messages you send us. If you email us, we receive your email address and whatever you write. We use it only to reply and to improve the site. We will not publish your message or your name without your permission.

Search. The search feature on this site runs in your browser. Your search terms are not sent to us.

Affiliate links. Some links on this site, such as our link to Ever Accountable, are referral (affiliate) links. If you click one, the company or its affiliate network may set a cookie in your browser and receive technical information such as your IP address, so it can credit us for the referral. We do not receive your personal information from this. Their handling of your data is governed by their own privacy policies. We always label these links.

Cookies

We do not set advertising cookies. Some third-party services we load may set their own cookies or receive your IP address:

  • Google Fonts delivers our typefaces (Fraunces and Public Sans). Google receives your IP address when your browser requests the fonts.
  • Embedded YouTube video. Our About page embeds a video using YouTube’s privacy-enhanced mode (youtube-nocookie.com), which does not set tracking cookies unless and until you press play. If you play the video, YouTube (Google) may set cookies and collect data according to its own privacy policy.
  • Affiliate links (see above), once you click one.
  • Any analytics service we enable (see above).

Children’s privacy

This site is directed at parents and other adults, not at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has sent us personal information, contact us and we’ll delete it.

We link to other sites (for example, the NCMEC CyberTipline and software makers). We are not responsible for their content or privacy practices.

Your choices

You can block cookies and trackers in your browser settings. To ask us to delete a message you sent, contact us at the address on the contact page.

Changes

We’ll update this page when our practices change and show the date at the top.
